One thing I have noticed in talking with women entrepreneurs, is we lack role models. I find for myself that although I was one of the first professional women in the tech industry, the way in which I was able to be successful was by taking on male leadership qualities and adapting to the expectations of upper management within a traditionally patriarchal hierarchy. Today, I have formed CorePowered Entrepreneurs to help establish a new way of success that is based on our internal standards of success; and for women that means doing it in a way that is more natural to us. So when we do look at women my age that have achieved success, although they have been “successful” by traditional conventions, I believe most of us that are either at the top and can define our own rules, are solopreneurs, or can define our own rules of success in some other way, have begun to shift to a more feminine way defining and achieving success.
Opportunity For the Next Generation of Women Entrepreneurs
This doesn’t necessarily give young women establishing themselves in the business world a good role model for fulfilling their goals and dreams. Instead I believe the prime-time women of today need to share more of their lessons learned and their new way of doing things with ease and grace in a way that is natural to a woman of power, so that this generation can start their journey from the get-go in a way that utilizes their true strength and power. The women of today have the privilege and opportunity to become the first generation of women to establish a career from beginning to end in a way that is rooted in the use of our feminine characteristics and gifts and become the female role models that is so desperately needed.
This month we will be looking at female change agents. These women serve as role models for all of us because they show us that our life is not about what we accumulate in this world, it is about the change that we leave behind.
I will be interviewing a number of women throughout the year, so that each of us has a glimpse into the life of the wonderful female change agents dedicated to making a positive change in our world.
Who are your female role models?
