Don’t Sacrifice Today for Tomorrow-Get Paid Today

I’ve done a lot of sacrificing for monetary success. First I, invested almost all of my time into my first successful business–a high-tech firm.  While I was doing that, I invested most of my money into assets I thought would give me a good living when I sold my business and went into retirement.

I was looking forward to a life without so much sacrifice!   But when my net worth was slashed in half with the drop of real estate prices and the economy, suddenly I was in a position where I had to make money again.

By then I’d learned about living from my Core. Our Core is our spirit, the voice in each of us that guides us to the authentic lives we’re meant to live.  And when I was faced with the pressing decision of what to do next, I let my Core speak to me. It was hard to let go of that left-brained thinking. But I used both left and right brain–head and heart, and discovered something that satisfied all my needs.  And by then I had learned that if you feel like you are “sacrificing” today for something tomorrow, you’ve missed the boat.

One thing I’ve learned from my losses is that cash flow is what matters.  I’m sure you’ve heard the term, “Cash is King!”. I had some crazy notion that I would work hard, sacrifice today and then ride off into the sunset and live off my assets.  But you can’t depend purely on assets. You can’t depend on investments.

Assets mean nothing if  they’re not producing cashflow.  If you want to make money, you need to balance your financial health so that continuing cash flow is always available to you.  Along with making sound investments.

One of  the best way to do that is to go into business for yourself.  That way you can choose a business model that gets you paid today and makes you money tomorrow. I learned that you need to pick an opportunity that cashflows immediately and consistently.  You don’t want a model that requires a lot of long-term investment with hopes of return on investment (ROI) one to three years down the road.  I discovered this in a model called Get Paid Today (GPT).

Monetary wealth is just part of what we need to be happy in life. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. But we also need money so our human experiences are healthy and fulfilling ones.

As an Internet entrepreneur, your success depends on your choices, not economic whims. Don’t depend on others for your financial health. And don’t rely on assets for your ongoing monetary needs. Ensure that your model not only includes a decent ROI, but that it provides immediate and consistent cashflow.
